Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

Feeling grumpy, irritable, exhausted or depressed?  Perhaps you are exceptionally “moody”, craving certain foods?  Experiencing acne, bloating and weight gain.

All this happening right before your period?  This is NORMAL!

These are common symptoms associated with PMS.

TRY:

  • Focusing on fruits/veggies, less sugar and fats
  • Less salty foods (helps with bloating)
  • Less caffeine (less crabby, helps ease breast tenderness and cramps)
  • Eat smaller more frequent meals.
  • Exercise for 30-60 minutes most days of the week
  • Sleep at least 8 hours each night
  • Hot water bottle on abdomen/back for cramps

Talk to your midwife if these symptoms are causing you to miss school/work frequently!
