Nasrin Sanei, CNM
I was born and raised in Dezfoul, Iran. I am the oldest of six children; I have two bothers and three sisters. My inspiration to become a midwife started after my mother had midwife deliveries with my siblings. My passion for caring began when I was a young girl because I was in charge of taking care of my siblings. My compassion extended out into the community caring for others and helping in any way I could even with my busy schedule.
I attended the University of Isfahan in Isfahan, Iran from 1981-1985 graduating with a bachelor’s degree in midwifery. After graduation I worked for five years in a large hospital in Iran. This hospital had approximately 1200 deliveries per month. While I was working in Iran I also worked as a nursing supervisor and helped open a LPN nursing school where I also an instructor
In 1990 I moved to the United States and from 1991-1994 I attended the College of Saint Catherine receiving a nursing degree. From 2000-2002, I attended the U of MN receiving a Master’s of Science Degree in Nurse Midwifery. Since receiving my degree in 2002 I have worked at Health Partners.
Midwifery has given me the chance to care for woman and their families through routine health maintenance exams, family planning, prenatal and postnatal care and also various gynecology issues.
My background experiences include working as a nurse in a long term care facility and in labor and delivery also a certified nurse midwife in Iran and Minnesota. I mentor students in the nurse practitioner program as well as the nurse midwifery program.
Being from Iran I am very familiar with the Middle East culture. I speak both English and Farsi. My husband and I have two sons. Cooking, baking and Sofreh (creative food presentations) are my passions. I love entertaining and cherish the time I spend with my family and friends. Recently in addition to daily workouts I have started a Zumba class. I enjoy working with my coworkers and all the staff at Health Partners.
